Today, we remember and honor the life and legacy of Jeffrey Carlson, who left us far too soon at the age of 46.
Jeffrey was born December 9th, 1974 in Garden City, Michigan to his loving mother and father, Janet and Charles Carlson. From an early age, Jeffrey was a creative and motivated individual who was determined to make a difference in the world.
Jeffrey attended Garden City High School, where he played on the football team and was an active member of Future Business Leaders of America and the Drama Club. Graduating in 1992, he went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in special education from Eastern Michigan University in 1996.
Jeffrey was passionate about helping others and building strong relationships with those around him. He put his degree to use in the classroom, teaching children with special needs through 2020. He was known to be a tough yet caring teacher who loved his students and made sure that each one knew their value and potential.
Outside of the classroom, Jeffrey loved to spend time with his friends and family. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed taking his family on road trips throughout the Midwest. He was often active in his community, coordinating food drives and other volunteering efforts whenever possible.
Above all else, Jeffrey was a kind and compassionate soul who deeply loved and cared for those closest to him. He was always ready with a hug and kind words of support and encouragement, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Jeffrey Carlson is survived by his parents, Janet and Charles Carlson, his brother, Scott, and his two sons, Eric and Jason.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Jeffrey’s honor to the Special Education Department of Garden City High School.
