Damage Reported After Route Closed In Bay Head Fire
The New York State Police are reporting that a Route 17 in Bay Head is closed due to a fire.
According to the NYSP, the Route 17 is closed between exits 1 and 2 because of the fire. The closure is expected to last for several hours.

Bay Head Fire After a fire closed a portion of the Route 287 highway in Bay Head, New Jersey yesterday, officials have released photos of the scene.
According to The Asbury Park Press, the closure began at about 5 p.m. when firefighters responded to reports of a fire on the side of the highway. They were able to put out the blaze before it spread, but because of the smoke and heat, they had to close the highway.
Traffic was rerouted around the scene and as of this morning, it still remains closed. Officials are still investigating what caused the fire.

According to the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), a fire broke out on the ferry after it left Bay Head around 8:30 p.m. on Saturday. The ferry was carrying around 100 passengers at the time of the fire.
No injuries were reported as a result of the fire, and crews were able to put out the blaze within minutes. However, as a result of the blaze, much of the ferry’s interior sustained damage.
It is not yet clear when or if the ferry will be able to reopen. In the meantime, people are being asked to use alternate routes.
